Once you submit your contracting request form, our contracting team goes to work. They first check to see that you have everything in place that the carriers require: E&O, insurance license, and any applicable certifications. Then within 24 hours (usually less- we have an amazing team!) all contract requests are sent to the requested carriers. Once the contracting department sends out the requests, the remainder of the process is in the hands of the carriers and the agent. Once the carrier processes your request, they will send an email to your Powerhouse FIN or Health Partner email. Their speediness is solely dependent on their current request load at the time. The closer we are to open enrollment in the fall, the longer it will take. Once the email is sent, it then becomes the responsibility of the agent to complete the steps the carriers request. if you have questions about the process the carrier sent you, reach out to the carrier directly. They will always have the most up to date information about their process as well as your status in that process. Home Office receives a report once a month regarding which agents are RTS. The most accurate and quick way to see if you are RTS with a carrier is to call the carrier directly.
Changing your information on your client-facing website is easy! Just submit the Website Customization Form (the same one you used in the beginning. The RainmakerDigitalSocial team will have your website updated within 24 hours M-F. Most requests submitted over the weekend will be completed by Monday Morning.
The majority of the carriers pay agents directly. Each carrier has their own commission protocol. However, there are some parameters that most carriers follow.
Life business is typically paid within the week of a policy becoming issue paid. Issue paid is when the policy has been approved by the carrier and the client has made their first payment (this payment is most often submitted with the application)
Health business works quite a bit differently. Heath business written the 1st-15th will have a start date of the first of the upcoming month. (ie a policy is written March 10th and will have a start date of April 1st) Health business written after the 15th through the end of the month will have a start date of the first the month after. (ie a policy is written March 20th will have a start date of May 1st) The clients then have until the end of the month to pay their health insurance premium (if they have a part of the premium they pay out of pocket). Agents will not be sent commissions until the plan is in effect and the binder payment (the first payment) has been received. As you can see this process is quite a bit more lengthy, however once the PMPM starts, the PMPM continues while the policy is in effect.
